Physiotherapy Under Support at Home: Fully Funded Care
The Support at Home programme commenced on 1 November 2025, replacing Home Care Packages as Australia’s in-home aged care system. For physiotherapy, the change is significant, and entirely in your favour.
Under Support at Home, physiotherapy delivered as part of your approved care plan is fully funded by the Australian Government, with no participant contribution. This applies to every participant, regardless of income, assets or pension status. It is one of the most meaningful improvements over the former Home Care Package system, where therapy was paid from the same pooled budget as cleaning and personal care, and too often competed with them.
Physiotherapy now sits in its own separately funded category. Choosing more domestic assistance no longer means less therapy, and choosing therapy costs you nothing. There is also no fixed cap on session numbers: the frequency and duration of physiotherapy are determined by your assessed needs and care plan, in consultation with your physiotherapist and care partner.
Advanced Rehabilitation for Neurological and Age-Related Conditions
myNeuro is not a general physiotherapy service that also visits homes. Neurological and ageing rehabilitation is the core of our work, and our physiotherapists bring advanced, condition-focused expertise to every visit. We provide in-home assessment and treatment for:
Stroke
Task specific retraining of walking, balance, transfers and upper-limb function, applying principles of neuroplasticity through structured, high-repetition practice.
Parkinson’s disease
Amplitude-based movement training, gait and freezing strategies, and falls-risk management.
Multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions
Fatigue-aware strengthening, balance retraining and mobility preservation.
Falls and balance disorders
vidence-based strength and balance programmes, delivered in the environment where falls actually occur.
Post-hospital deconditioning
Structured reconditioning after illness, surgery or an extended admission, targeted at safe independence and reduced readmission risk.
Dementia-related mobility decline
Movement retention strategies adapted to cognition, with carers trained as active partners in therapy.
Age-related functional decline
Progressive resistance and balance training to preserve strength, walking capacity and independence.
What Evidence-Based, In-Home Physiotherapy Involves
Comprehensive initial assessment
Every episode of care begins with a thorough in-home assessment: health and medication history, functional goals, and objective testing using validated outcome measures, including gait speed, Timed Up and Go, the Berg Balance Scale and the 30-second sit-to-stand test. Assessing in the home adds a dimension no treatment room can replicate: we observe the actual environments, surfaces and distances that define your day, and identify both risks and opportunities within them.
Targeted, progressive treatment
Treatment plans draw on current evidence and are progressed systematically, task-specific gait retraining, progressive resistance and balance training, transfer training, walking-aid prescription and fitting, and a personalised home exercise programme documented in large, clear type. Where family members or carers are involved, we train them deliberately so that therapeutic practice continues safely between visits.
Measured outcomes, plain-language reporting
Progress is measured, not assumed. Outcome measures are re-tested at defined review points, programmes are adjusted accordingly, and with the participant’s consent, we report in plain language to family, the GP and the care team. Care partners receive the documentation they need for care-plan reviews, without chasing it.

How to Access Support at Home Physiotherapy
Confirm your assessment
If you are not yet a Support at Home participant, the entry point is a My Aged Care assessment call 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au. If physiotherapy needs exist, raise them during the assessment so they are reflected in your support plan.
Check your care plan
If you are already a participant, your care partner can confirm whether physiotherapy was identified in your plan and arrange to add it at review if your needs have changed.
Arrange the referral
Ask your provider or care partner to refer to myNeuro, or contact us directly and we will coordinate with your care team on your behalf.
Begin therapy at home
Your first visit is a comprehensive in-home assessment, goal-setting and the start of your programme, delivered anywhere in our Melbourne service area, with no travel fee.
The Restorative Care Pathway
Support at Home also includes a short-term, intensive allied health pathway, typically around 12 weeks, designed to restore function after a fall, illness, surgery or hospitalisation. Structured physiotherapy blocks are precisely what this pathway is built for. If you have been approved for restorative care, or believe you may be eligible, we can deliver the physiotherapy component and coordinate with the rest of your allied health team.
For Care Partners and Coordinators
myNeuro works alongside Support at Home providers across Melbourne as the physiotherapy arm of participants’ care plans. Referrals are acknowledged promptly, initial assessments include objective baseline measures, and you receive concise written reporting aligned to care-plan review cycles. For complex neurological participants, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, progressive conditions, our condition-focused expertise reduces the trial-and-error that generalist referrals can involve.
Everything you need to know before booking.
